Border Security Becomes More Important

As Hugo Chavez gets more and more buddy buddy with the USSR Russia and both of those nations pursue international policies that have and will radically destabilize their "neighborhoods," securing our southern border becomes even more important. Whether we're talking tunnels that stretch from Tijauna to San Diego, or loads of people smuggled in on trucks, or people simply crossing the desert on foot (and leaving lots of trash, I might add), the number of people entering and bringing whatever they can carry presents a significant security risk. Especially if Chavez succeeds in acquiring any level of nuclear material -- even if only enough for some "dirty bombs," the risk of a nuclear or just radiological detonation in a major population center is too high to be chanced. Comprehensive and effective border security must be made a priority.

Will Congress take the lead on reforming the INS and giving the American people an effective defense at our own threshold, at the same time our military is so ably and admirably reducing threats abroad?
